TEAM ‘A’ VS TEAM ‘B’ UMNO INFIGHTING ESCALATES: WHO LIED – IGP OR NAZRI? COPS DENY ASKING NAZRI’S MEN TO LODGE REPORT OVER 1MDB DEBATE, WARNS MINISTER

KUALA LUMPUR— The Perak police chief rejected today an allegation that three citizens were “ordered” to file a complaint to stop a scheduled public dialogue between Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad last March.
Commissioner Datuk Pahlawan Hasnan Hassan said the allegation was “false and a wild claim”.
“Perak PDRM is professional and will only act based on the existing laws.
“I advise everyone not to drag and involve the police in any political issue for their personal political agenda,” he said in a brief media statement.
Nazri claimed during a no-holds-barred question-and-answer session here two nights ago that the police had ordered several Umno members in his Perak constituency to lodge reports so that the law enforcers could stop his debate with the former prime minister from taking place.
The tourism and culture minister went as far as to claim that the police had “played us out”, telling the public forum that the three reports filed and signed by the Padang Rengas Umno branch leader, an Umno Youth member and a village head were typed out from a template.
The public dialogue between Dr Mahathir and Nazri, who is also Padang Rengas MP and an Umno supreme council member, was originally scheduled for March 25 at the Mara Junior Science College in Kuala Kangsar, Perak.
It was later postponed and eventually cancelled after police insisted that the event posed a danger to public order and security.
