‘PASAR MALAM’ MENTALITY OVERTAKES PKR: AZIZAH ADMITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO BE PM BUT STILL WANTS TO BAG SEAT FOR ANWAR – THIS IS IRRESPONSIBLE, SAYS IDEAS

KUALA LUMPUR – Ideas Chief Executive Wan Saiful Wan Jan has labelled PKR as irresponsible over its proposal to place party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the next interim prime minister.
This is simply because the prime minister is the top position in the country and it cannot be treated in a trivial manner, he said.
“You cannot have someone warming up the seat for the next PM. It is irresponsible to propose a seat warmer for that position.
“Even Wan Azizah said she isn’t good enough for that position… so, they really need to move on,” he said to reporters when met after Ideas’ “National Higher Education Conference 2017”.
Wan Saiful also said it was wrong for PKR to brandish placards in support for its defacto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to be the next prime minister, as it isn’t a collective agenda shared by Pakatan Harapan as a whole.
PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) top leaders held placards at the PKR congress on Sunday that said “Anwar PM Ke-7” (Anwar is the 7th PM), except for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who took pictures with his phone instead.
“I think (Dr) Mahathir did the right thing. Because, Pakatan Harapan as a presidential council, has not made a decision.
“This is only an agenda of PKR. So you cannot force the other partner parties in the coalition to support your agenda before discussing it first.
“Anyways, I think PKR needs to grow up and realise that the PM position is not something they can pass around,” he said.
Anwar is currently serving the third year of his five-year sentence for sodomy.
Without a royal pardon or an early release, he is just under eight years away from eligibility to stand for an election, which he must first win in order to be PM.
