Why wasn't she charged with murder, asks crash victim's dad

The family of Mohamad Fandi Rosli, who died after a teenager driving against the flow of traffic crashed into his car, is disappointed that there was no murder charge against the alleged offender.
This morning, Ng Pei Ven, was charged at the Bukit Mertajam magistrate's court with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs during the March 14 incident along the North-South Expressway.
The 19-year-old part-time model claimed trial.
However, Fandi's father Rosli Lin said the family expected her to be charged with murder instead.
"It isn't that we could not come to terms with my son's death.
"However, we believe she should have been given a heavier charge because this was not a typical accident.
"It was not just any ordinary accident because she (Ng) was driving against the traffic flow, so she deserves to be slapped with a heavier charge as a deterrent to herself and others," he was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times.
Rosli's wife Noor Suriani Ismail, 47, said the family has hired a lawyer to initiate further legal action against Ng.

"We are seeking justice for the loss of our only son," she said.
Ng, who was charged under Section 44 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, faces a 10-year jail sentence and fine of up to RM20,000 upon conviction.
In the 7.50am, Ng had driven her Proton Gen 2 at high speed against traffic, resulting in a collision involving several vehicles.
Fandi, 26, who was in a Proton Kelisa, died at the scene.
Last Friday, Ng claimed trial at the magistrate's court whem she was charged with self-administration of drugs. She is now out on bail. - Mkini
