'Bye-bye Najib - I'm flying to Taiwan', says artist

Fahmi Reza, the artist behind the now infamous clown portrait of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, has managed to get through an immigration blacklist barring him from overseas travel.
In a series of Facebook postings, the artist said that he "fought the law" and won, and is now flying to Taiwan.
"Short story: After I tirelessly fought against my travel ban through many ways since Thursday, victory was finally mine. Success! Bye-bye Najib, I'm flying to Taiwan!" he added.
Fahmi said he would reveal the full story of how he got off the blacklist once he reaches Taipei.
He is scheduled to speak on his work in protest art at an event organised by the Green Citizens' Action Alliance in Taiwan.
Last Thursday, the graphic designer said the Immigration Department informed him that he had been barred from overseas travel since March 31, 2016.
He said checks with the case investigating officer at Bukit Aman found that his name might have been blacklisted because he was categorised as a "wanted" personto when he was investigated under Section 233 of the Communications Act for a Twitter posting which allegedly insulted the prime minister.
Fahmi was originally charged over the caricature of Najib at the Sessions Court in Ipoh on June 6. His case was later transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Cyber Court.
If convicted under Section 233, Fahmi can be fined up to RM50,000 or jailed up to a year or both.
He has since applied to the High Court to have his charge struck out on the grounds that his freedom of expression, enshrined under the Federal Constitution, has been infringed.- Mkini
